10.1 Laptop Review

The 10 inch laptops are highly portable, not often are they called netbooks. You have probably guesses it by now that netbooks were invented for browsing the net. You get a very light piece of equipment with which you can do basic things, while on the go. In some instances they are becoming obsolete, thanks to these new Smart phones but I think that a lot of students still use them.  So let’s stick to laptops for the resent time:

You have two similar mini laptops at similar prices, HP Mini 5103 (Intel Atom N550) and Asus Eee PC Seashell 1015PED-MU17

So, you have HP Mini 5103 (Intel Atom N550) for the starting price of $299.00. Surprisingly it has a dual core processor but it is still a 1.5 GHz Intel Atom N550. The 2 GB internal memory will also give you a but more for multitasking than the usual netbook HDD. There is not a lot to expect from a netbook in the department of graphics, that is why this one comes with an integrated Intel GMA 3150 processor equipped with Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator. The 160 GB hard drive is more than spacious for type of machine that this is.

As you have anticipated, the optical drive is missing and maybe the Bluetooth and optional WWAN connections can make up for it. It also comes with 3 USB drive and an SD card reader. The next item is the Asus Eee PC Seashell 1015PED-MU17 with very good considerations from CNET editors. Its price is around $320; its weight is of only 3.2 pounds with adapter.

Its configuration is a bit different than the previous laptop’s. The processor is a simple 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 with 1 GB internal memory. The only advantage that a user of this machine would get than from the other one is the space that the 250 GB hard drive offers. The Intel GMA 3150 graphics card is integrated and this is really nothing new.

For connecting to other devices you have a VGA and 3 USB ports, one SD card reader and a Bluetooth connection. And that is about it. For internet browsing you can choose from a modem or wireless connection. Unfortunately this laptop is not that well equipped but it has great battery life with a solid build up.11
